THERE'S THE QUICK AND easy assumption that with Washington State's obvious struggles it means third-year coach Paul Graham isn't getting it done.

`It doesn't matter if you bring in Rick Pitino or Bob Knight,' Arizona State coach Rob Evans said. `It's still Pullman, Washington. If UCLA and Stanford want kids, you're not going to get them (at WSU). If you stay the course long enough and have continuity, you end up getting the right kids and you can get it done.'

There was somewhat a similar pitch last month from Oregon coach Ernie Kent about OSU coach Ritchie McKay. Give him time, Kent said. Remember where the Beavers were when he took over, and there's no question Kent inherited things in better...
