Cutbacks hurt head-injured
As a graduate student in the University of Oregon's communication disorders and sciences program, I am concerned about the major impact that the defeat of Measure 28 will have for some clients with head injuries - specifically those who reside at ShelterCare's Uhlhorn and River Kourt Apartments. I have worked closely with these clients and have seen them making progress. They should not have to lose a lifestyle they so critically need.
An estimated 50 percent of the residents at Uhlhorn and River Kourt will lose services sometime in the near future. Four clients are currently at risk of losing services, and another five clients will lose services as of April 1. Consider that most of these...
