To save the West University neighborhood from urban blight, run-down properties will need to be improved, dark streets lit and pot-holed alleys paved, according to a draft of a neighborhood task force report.
Those are the top three of 10 steps the city, the University of Oregon and neighborhood residents and property owners should take in the coming months and years to keep the city's most dense neighborhood from slipping into decay, the report says. The 16-member West University Task Force will meet at 4 p.m. today at Central Presbyterian Church, 1475 Ferry St., to finalize the recom- mendations.
