Bertha Wells
The funeral will be held Nov. 20 for Bertha Ella Wells of Eugene, who died Nov. 17 of age-related causes. She was 103.
Wells was born Oct. 27, 1900, in Pierre, S.D., to Charles B. and Ella Seifert Shaffner. She married Harold Wells in Eugene on July 15, 1923. He died in 1973.
A resident of Eugene for 99 years, she attended the University of Oregon and assisted in the World War II effort. She was a homemaker and she worked as a secretary at Abstract Co.
She enjoyed reading the Bible, singing hymns and playing the piano by ear.
Survivors include a son, Charles of Eugene; and a daughter, Phyllis Wells of Eugene.
Thursday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at West Lawn...
