CORRECTION (ran 12/11/03): A front-page story Tuesday about Eugene architecture incorrectly described Otto Poticha's affiliation with the University of Oregon. Poticha, a professional architect, is an adjunct professor at the UO.

Something is happening to downtown Eugene - and winter may be the best time to check it out.

The cityscape is changing. New buildings are blending with the best of the old for an emerging urban ambiance that begins to define the city.

The year-old Eugene Public Library with its two-story windows and barrel vault roof line overlooks the artful symmetry of the downtown bus depot to the east and the retro charm of the Broadway Place apartments just northwest.
