CRESWELL - Nine Eugene-area golfers were among those who survived their first-round matches Tuesday at the State Junior Championships at Emerald Valley Golf Course.
Led by medalist Tyler Morse of Eugene, five area players reached the quarterfinals of the Boys (age 14-15) championship flight. Others advancing in the division were Eugene's Philip Bagdade, Jack Dukeminier and Nic Polski and Veneta's Allen Kelley.

Other area players advancing in their championship flights were Eugene's Trevor Moffitt in the Juniors division (boys age 16-17), Kendra Little in the Girls division (age 15-17), and Zachary Caldwell and Robbie Pitts in the Intermediate Boys division (age 12-13).
