Guest pianist Richard Zimdars will give a lecture and a recital on the nostalgic Sonata No. 1 by American composer Charles Ives.
The sonata is mostly about outdoor life in late 19th century Connecticut villages. Ives described it as being inspired by "the family together in the first and last movements, the boy away sowing his oats in the ragtimes and the parental anxiety in the middle movement.''...
