---------- FSA punishes Banco do Brasil for illegal worker remittances

TOKYO - The Financial Services Agency ordered the Japanese branch of Banco do Brasil on Thursday to suspend new corporate remittance services for one year.

The FSA took the punitive step for the Brazilian bank's continued involvement in overseas remittances for illegal foreign workers, the nation's financial watchdog said.

---------- Ex-Yakult exec ordered to pay 6.7 bil. yen over risky deals

TOKYO - The Tokyo District Court ordered a former vice president of lactic beverage maker Yakult Honsha Co. on Thursday to pay the company 6.7 billion yen for causing it to suffer damage through transactions of high-risk derivatives.
