Global audit body to debate inclusion of e-paper figures

The International Federation of Audit Bureaux of Circulations (IFABO) is aiming to carve out a global agreement on whether e-paper sales can be included in print edition circulation figures.

It has created a dedicated working group, led by ABCs in Europe, whose remit is to reach a consensus on the vexed issue of whether digitally-rendered newspapers can be counted alongside print sales.

The UK's ABC council has previously opposed counting the figures together, although the issue is on the agenda for a meeting this week and it's possible that it may come to a different conclusion.

Last month NMA reported that UK newspaper publishers, ready to launch digital editions this year, were putting pressure on the ABC here to let them bundle figures together...
