Can bloggers be the catalyst for Web audit standards?

The rise of blogging, and its rather more commercially minded sibling nanopublishing, has been heralded by many as a return to the communal roots of the Internet.

The release of blogging software has once again lowered the barriers to entry and enabled tens of thousands of people to publish online. And as our Insight last week on moblogging showed, the technology is emerging to enable people to put words and pictures onto their Web sites from their mobile phones, adding even greater immediacy to their postings (NMA 7 August).

Meanwhile, the power of the Internet has long been apparent to slightly larger operations looking to reach niche audiences. This week's feature on page 26 illustrates how this is working for sites serving ethnic minorities in the UK....
