Good Tech founder to head WPP new media initiative

Communications giant WPP Group is stepping up its interactive capabilities with the creation of a role dedicated to finding new media agencies to bring into the fold.

Richard Davies, founder of WPP's key digital agency Good Technology, is to spend two days a week on the hunt for acquisitions in the new media space. His title becomes chairman of Good Technology. He will report to both Rob Norman, chairman of Media Edge CIA, and the WPP board.

Davies' prime role will be to look at companies outside WPP that can be brought in to build and develop the group's interactive offering. He will look at disciplines that WPP doesn't already offer while also considering new platforms like wireless and iTV, making recommendations on companies that can either be merged...
