News: Morgan Stanley tops epn prime brokerage survey

Morgan Stanley has come first in epn's survey of hedge fund prime brokers for the second year running. The bank actually completes a double for the second year as it also wins the top slot as custodian ahead of the Bank of Bermuda.

The epn survey asked hedge funds across Europe and the US for their votes in the following categories: prime brokerage, auditing, administration and custody.

Goldman Sachs leapfrogged Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch in this year's poll to take second place behind Morgan Stanley in prime brokerage.

Ernst & Young retained its number one position for hedge fund auditing; the only top five change saw Goldstein, Golub and Kessler come in fifth.
