Technological breakthrough in the top 100 brands: Joanna Doonar identifies that technology brands are the Interbrand survey's three highest climbers

Brand Strategy, August, 2003 by Joanna Doonar

Coca-Cola, Microsoft and IBM have taken their usual hot spots at position one, two and three in Interbrand's Annual Ranking of 100 of the Best Global Brands. But this year, the clear message is that the technology sector's fortunes are improving, with three of the industry's brands becoming the survey's highest climbers in terms of percentage increase.

Samsung is the fastest growing global brand for the second year in a row, increasing by 31% and taking position 25 in the table with a value of $10.8bn (6.7bn [pounds sterling]). Hewlett-Packard has jumped two places to twelfth position, increasing its value by 18% to $19.9bn (12.3bn [pounds sterling]), and at rank 29, Dell has increased by 12% to $10.4bn (6.4bn [pounds sterling]).
