Tough new EU rules on GM foods an opportunity for non-GM?

The stringent new rules governing the labeling and traceability of genetically-modified organisms and ingredients, which came into force in the European Union in April (NIs passim), have created the harshest environment in the world, but could play into the hands of companies specializing in non-GM products.

One company expecting to benefit from the legislation is Penford Food Ingredients, currently the only firm manufacturing non-GM dextrose - used in dietary supplements as a tableting agent - in the USA.
