Bekaert ECD Solar Receives CEC Grant.

Bekaert ECD Solar System, LLC (P.O. Box 151, Albion, CA 95410; Tel: 707/937-0338) has been awarded a cost-shared California Energy Commission (CEC) contract. The contract was awarded under the Public Interest Energy Research program to be administered by Sacramento Municipal Utilities District (SMUD). CEC will contribute $1.5 million of the $3.3 million total project cost, spread during a 3-yr. period.

The project goal is to develop and commercialize an inexpensive and quick-to-install building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system that can be applied to a variety of roof decks, according to Stephen Heckeroth, director, BIPV.
