Bromine Recovered in Staged-Gasification.

Research sponsored by the European Brominated Flame Retardant Industry Panel (EBFRIP) demonstrates that it is technically feasible to recover bromine from recycled plastic, "closing the bromine loop" in the handling of electrical and electronic waste. The recovery is accomplished through staged-gasification, comprising pyrolysis (550C) and high-temperature gasification (>1,230C).
