R&H Buys Out Japanese Partner.

Rohm and Haas Co. (100 Independence Mall W., Philadelphia, PA 19106-2399; Tel: 215/592-3000, Fax: 215/592-3377) has agreed to buy out the global plastics additives business of its joint venture partner, Kureha Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (1-9-11, Nihonbashi Horidome-cho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 103-8552, Japan; Tel: (03)3249-4666, Fax: (03)3249-4601).
The transaction will cost Rohm and Haas $65.6 million and is expected to close by the end of 2002. The acquisition is expected to increase annual revenue of Rohm and Haas' plastics additives business by approximately $70 million. The company reported plastics additives sales of $398 million in 2001.
