ADVANCED GLASSES: Corning Debuts Optical Fiber.
High Tech Ceramics News, September, 2002
Corning, Inc., a world-leading supplier of optical fiber, unveiled the latest addition to its optical fiber portfolio, a 10 Gb/s- capable multimode fiber for high-speed, high-density applications. Corning InfiniCor SXi fiber offers superior bandwidth for short- reach interconnect applications while achieving lower overall systems cost.
InfiniCor SXi fiber is designed to provide an upgrade path to conquer bandwidth-intensive applications where data converges for routing, switching, and storage. It is a 50-micron multimode fiber enabling 10 Gb/s transmission over 150 m in the 850-nm wavelength window, and is designed for use with low-cost, 850-nm vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) to enable a cost- effective, high-bandwidth solution.
