Allegro Moves to Facility Upgrade.

Allegro MicroSystems, Inc. (115 Northeast Cutoff, Worcester, MA 01606; Tel: 508/853-5000, Fax: 508/853-7861) has announced the completion of the sale and closure of its 250,000-square-foot facility in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. Allegro is a supplier of advanced mixed-signal power semiconductors, Hall effect, and integrated magnetic sensors. The buyer, who purchased the facility for an undisclosed amount, will reportedly use the facility for purposes unrelated to the semiconductor industry. Allegro, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sanken Electric Co., Ltd. (Saitama, Japan), plans to transfer production of bipolar analog devices from the primarily 4-in. wafer fab in Willow Grove to its headquarters in Worcester, Massachusetts.
