Johnson was SVP of policy and strategic communications for MILCOM Technologies Inc., a military technology commercialization company, prior to founding NetCommunications. From 1992-1999 she served two consecutive terms on the Florida Public Service Commission, responsible for Florida's $ 16 billion water and wastewater, electric, gas, and communications industries. She was also chairperson of Florida Public Service from 1997-1999. Also is a director of Allegheny Energy Inc., MasTec Inc., and Northwestern Corp.
