INTRODUCTION
The prevalence of HIV in Hong Kong and in many other parts of the world have been male dominant; however, the incidence of infection in females has been on the rise (e.g., CDC, 2000; Department of Health, 2001; Matsuyama et al., 1999). The male-to-female ratio in the number of infections was 33:1 in 1990, 7.8:1 in 1992, and 3.2:1 in 2000 (Department of Health, 2001).
