Poetry Speaks to Children

Poetry Speaks to Children Edited by Elise Paschen

Among our fondest memories as children--a memory we both share--is our parents reading poems to us as we sat snuggled in their laps. We heard Frost and Nash, Dickinson, Shakespeare, and more. Poetry Speaks to Children takes our experience one step further. This wonderful book includes not only over 80 poems, but also includes a 58-track CD where the poems are read, frequently by their authors. This book, filled with old gems as well as works from new poets, gently and humorously introduces children to the song of poetry and the subtle messages that can hide in rhyme.

This beautifully illustrated, delightful book provides the perfect opportunity for the big lap and the small, giggling child. When other duties call, the CD helps continue the music of poetry. We like this book for all kids and award it the EP Symbol of Excellence.
