MasterCard International Inc. has inaugurated a global marketing campaign aimed at users of automated teller machines (ATM) and point-of-sale debit services. MasterCard has called its service the "Portable Bank." The campaign will utilize ATM cards and checking account services as locations in which consumers will be taught about the advantages of debit cards. Among the international financial institutions that will participate in MasterCard's advertising campaign are the Bank of New York, ABN Amro and the Bank of Montreal.
