Ohio Society member tapped for American Accounting Association presidency

The American Accounting Association (AAA) elected Gary John Previts to become its 93rd president His term begins in August 2007. Previts is a past chair of The Ohio Society of CPAs and professor at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.

Previts is recognized internationally for his historical scholarship and his work in the area of professional regulation. He has twice served as chair of the AICPA committee to review and evaluate the federal government's processes in determining its Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

A member of the Weatherhead faculty since 1979, Previts has served as chair of the accountancy department and as associate dean for undergraduate and integrated study programs.

He has received the AICPA's Lifetime Contribution to Education Award, The Ohio Society's Gold Medal for Meritorious Service to the Profession and the Weatherhead School's Faculty Research Recognition Award, among others.
