PVC Firms 'Disappointed' by Commission.(polyvinyl chloride)(Brief Article)

European polyvinyl chloride (PVC) producers say they are "disappointed" by the European Commission's adoption of a Green Paper evaluating environmental issues relating to PVC. A Green Paper is a consultation document aimed at gathering opinions. Its eventual objective is to implement legislation to control the PVC industry, say PVC producers.

The paper is based on research carried out by the environment service of the commission. It concentrates on PVC additives such as those based on lead, cadmium, and phthalates, and on the management of PVC waste. The European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers (Brussels) calls the paper "misguided."
