Mitsui Chemicals has awarded Toyo Engineering a contract to build a 70,000-m.t./year bisphenol A (BPA) plant at Jurong Island, Singapore. It is Mitsui's third BPA project there. The contract has an estimated value of [yen]7 billion ($60 million). The plant is scheduled for completion in mid-2002 and will use Mitsui technology.
Mitsui will complete its second BPA unit at Jurong Island in August; its first plant there started up in 1999.
