DAIKIN INDUSTRIES and Formosa Plastics have started up an electronics-grade hydrofluoric acid (HF) plant at the Gao-xiang, Taiwan plant of their Formosa Daikin Advanced Chemicals joint venture. Daikin says that the plant represents investment of [yen]1.5 billion ($12.5 million). It is Taiwan's first domestic production of electronics grade HF, according to local sources.

The market was previously served by imports from Japan by Daikin, Morita Chemical Industries, and Stella Chemifa.
