The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC; Washington) has received an estimated 11,000 pages of industry correspondence that the Department of Energy (DOE) was forced to turn over by a federal court order last month (CW, March 6, p. 10). The documents, which the Bush Administration used in 2001 to formulate a national energy plan, include letters and e-mails from ACC, the American Petroleum Institute (API; Washington), the Fertilizer Institute (Washington), the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association (NPRA; Washington), as well as Enron, electric utilities, and other businesses, say NRDC attorneys.
