ExxonMobil Chemical's previously announced petrochemicals joint venture with Sinopec at Guangzhou, China, will include a 1-million m.t./year naphtha cracker, CW has learned (CW, Oct. 4, 2000, p. 21). The jv will be equally owned by ExxonMobil and Sinopec, and it is likely to be completed in 2008, sources say. This would be two to three years after scheduled completion of ExxonMobil's China petchems jv at Hui An, in China's Fujian province. That project is a jv of ExxonMobil, Saudi Aramco, and Fujian Petrochemical. The Fujian cracker will have an initial capacity of 600,000 m.t./year, expandable to 800,000 m.t./year, sources say, (CW, April 3, p. 16).
