Motiva says it has indefinitely idled its 300,000-m.t./year methanol plant at Delaware City, DE in February saying the business does not lit into its refinery core businesses. Motiva is a joint venture of Saudi Aramco, Shell, and Texaco. Motiva says it will buy methanol from the merchant market to supply its methyl tert-butyl ether plant at Delaware City.

Motiva also idled its heptenes, octenes, and nonenes unit, and its sulfuric acid recycling plant.
