Bristol-Myers untangles Barr-DuPont agreements. (Partnerships).(Brief Article)

Barr Laboratories (Pamona, NY) says it has reached a deal with Bristol-Myers Squibb to restructure a product development agreement and two marketing agreements that were forged between Barr and DuPont Pharmaceuticals, settling an anti-trust suit brought by Barr against DuPont in March 2000. Bristol-Myers purchased DuPont's pharmaceutical business last year. Last week's agreement will also give Barr rights to the patented and generic versions of DuPont's Revia anti-alcoholism drug, which Barr developed as a generic in 1998.

Under the terms of the original product development deal, DuPont agreed to invest up to $45 million to support development of Barr's CyPat prostate cancer therapy, Seasonale oral contraceptive, and DP3 oral contraceptive products in exchange...
