Sinopec and Mitsui join hands in BPA project.(bisphenol A)(Brief Article)

China Chemical Reporter, November, 2005

Sinopec Corp. and Mitsui Chemicals Inc. of Japan signed formally in Shanghai, China on October 15 to set up Shanghai Sinopec Gaoqiao Mitsui Chemical Co., Ltd. for the establishment of 120 000 t/a bisphenol A (BPA) production line. BPA is the major material for the production of epoxy resin and polycarbonate. (CCR 2004 No. 10)

Sinopec Corp. and Mitsui Chemicals held a ceremony for the signing of the contract. With the total investment of RMB100 million and the con tract duration of 50 years, each of the two parties holds 50% equity in the joint venture.

Sinopec Corp. has a number of solely funded enterprises and joint ventures in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, including a 200 000 tons/a phenol/acetone unit. Sinopec has always been planning to set up a...
