CNOOC methanol project makes successful ignition.(China National Offshore Oil Corp.'s methanol project under construction )(Brief article)

The auxiliary boiler, the first control point of CNOOC's 600 000 t/a methanol project located in Dongfang city of Hainan province, made successful ignition on April 28th, 2006. The project has a total investment of RMB1.47 billion and is the largest methanol project under construction in China.

Natural gas needed in the project is supplied by Dongfang 1-1 second-phase gas field, a major project of the state. The gas field is 110 km from CNOOC Dongfang Chemical City. The second-phase gas filed--Platform A started production in March 2006. After preliminary treatment, natural gas produced in the offshore central platform is transmitted to the onshore terminal (located in the chemical city) through a submarine pipeline.
