On January 22nd, 2007 Zhou Jianwei, Standing Vice Governor of Hubei Province, met CNOOC Chief Economist Chen Lihua. The two sides held discussions about the joint development and utilization of phosphate rock resources and the development of the phosphorus chemical industry.
CNOOC plans to invest RMB3.0 billion and establish a phosphate fertilizer base in Jingmen of Hubei province and a phosphorus chemical base in Yichang of Hubei province. A 1.5 million t/a ore mining unit and a 1. 5 million t/a ore dressing unit will be newly constructed on the basis of the existing 1.5 million t/a ore dressing unit in Hubei Dayukou Chemical Co., Ltd.
