Minutes of the American Society of Church History annual business meeting

E. Program Policy. Amy Oden suffered a heart attack this past fall, and so was able to provide only a brief report. The absence of a spring conference in 2006 made a lengthy and detailed program report unnecessary in any case.

F. Winter Program. John Van Engen summarized the breakdown of sessions in this year's conference and thanked his committee for a splendid job.

G. Identity Committee. The results of the 2005 survey have been available online, and are now summarized in an article in the Dec. 2006 of Church History.

5. Other Business.

A. Former presidents (8) in attendance were recognized.

B. Affiliation with the Society for Reformation Research was approved unanimously.

C. Conferences. Steve Olsen of the LDS Church's Family and Church History Dept. gave a brief description of the spring 2007 conference to be held in Salt Lake City.

ASCH has been invited to participate in a commemorative conference on John Calvin in Geneva in July 2008. Permission to proceed granted on condition that the Society be able to negotiate the terms of its participation and withdraw if need be.

Montreal Tourism Bureau has approached ASCH about holding its spring 2009 meeting in that city. Council has approved proceeding with negotiations. One previous conference has been held in Canada, in Hamilton. Several people commented that having a conference in a non-U.S.A. setting will help convey ASCH's readiness to be global.

D. Jan Shipps read a tribute to Jaroslav Pelikan, who passed away in 2006.
