UGS unveils NX3: release incorporates data management and process management capabilities.(New Entry)(Brief Article)

UGS is poised to release later this month NX3, the latest version of its flagship CAD software that incorporates many new features. [ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] Among the features are a new user interface, incorporation of data and process management, and capabilities for storage of meta data.
The latter capability allows engineers to get information about data itself. Additionally, says UGS, NX3 has capabilities for working with large assemblies and accessing all the information in bills of materials. Product Marketing Manager Thomas A. Teger says the release supports "lean design," enabling engineers to more easily re-use existing designs without the risk of errors in the entering of data from one system to another.--PT
