ABAQUS Inc. has released Version 6.5 of its product suite by the same name. Among the enhancements: New capabilities in fracture and failure analysis so engineers can model damage and failure of materials, fasteners, and other connections, and predict where a crack will grow. The fracture and failure capabilities are part of a long-term development at ABAQUS.
The capabilities are in the ABAQUS/Explicit and ABAQUS/Standard products. Included in the capabilities are cohesive elements for modeling separation between two initially bonded surfaces.
