The accountancy profession's European representative is urging businesses to engage in a "robust debate" as the European Commission prepares to introduce new requirements on the reporting of risk management and internal control as part of its corporate governance policy. These will require more than 300 listed companies in the EU to establish and maintain effective systems of risk management and accounting records that support information in financial reports.

A consultation paper from the Federation des Experts Comptables Europeens (FEE) has recommended a number of ways to improve reporting and make risk management more transparent.
