The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), the International Association of Book-keepers (IAB) and the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) are investigating the feasibility of a joint qualification structure. The three organisations are aiming to "codify a coherent and progressive framework for career development".

Malcolm Dean, chief executive of the IAB and IFA, said: "This is a unique opportunity to provide a range of qualifications that mirrors the needs of the marketplace."
