INEOS announced that it has reached an agreement in which the PQ Corporation, a speciality chemical company acquired in July 2007 by The Carlyle Group, will combine with INEOS Silicas to produce specialty inorganic chemicals, catalysts and engineered glass products. Under the terms of the agreement, The Carlyle Group will have approximately a 60% share; INEOS will hold approximately 40%.

The business will operate as PQ Corporation; the financial terms are not disclosed.
