FCC Okays Two Mega Wireless Networks.(Cellco Partnership, VoiceStream Wireless)(Company Business and Marketing)(Brief Article)

The FCC approved the transfer of Bert Atlantic and Vodafone AirTouch wireless licenses to their new Cellco Partnership and the transfer of Aerial Communications Inc.'s licenses to VoiceStream Wireless Inc.

Cellco is slated to cover 90 percent of the United States, with an anticipated national one-rate service. The venture also will include GTE Wireless markets Bell Atlantic is acquiring. VoiceStream's recent acquisition makes it one of the largest GSM carriers in the world. The company also recently acquired Omnipoint Communications.
