FCC Asks For Comments On Phase I.(Government Activity)(Brief Article)
Wireless Week, August, 2000
The FCC is seeking comments to clarify funding responsibilities for phase I enhanced 911 service. Wireless carriers and public-safety answering points are fighting over who should pay for implementing wireless phase I service. The King County, Wash., E-911 Program Office asked the FCC for clarification on the matter. Comments are due Sept. 18.
The commission wants to know if a clearly defined demarcation point exists separating responsibilities and if it varies according to the technology employed to deliver the services.
