The scene is late September 1995, and PCIA's annual convention is getting under way in Orlando, Fla. As wireless personnel attend standing-room-only seminars and browse shiny new products on the exhibit floor, few realize that this moment in time is a pivotal one for their industry--the beginning of the wireless boom. Coincidentally, it also marked the birth of Wireless Week, which began chronicling the industry from relative anonymity into the mainstream of culture around the world. Over the years, both the industry and the publication have changed dramatically.
As Wireless Week celebrates its fifth anniversary, we examine some of those formative events as they appeared in our pages--events that transformed a fledgling industry into a Wall Street dynamo....
