The rapid evolution of wireless technologies and the convergence of wireless and computing has pushed PCIA to take a new tack with regulators and legislators, and head for the future.
WASHINGTON--Call it an aperture adjustment. As new Internet and data applications are developed for wireless handsets, regulatory and legislative efforts that formerly concerned only wired carriers begin to affect wireless companies. To represent the interests of its members, PCIA must quickly expand its lobbying scope-traditionally framed by issues such as interconnection and numbering--to a wide angle view of computing and communications. And it must keep both in focus.
