GM Pushes OnStar Features, Touts Safety Record.(OnStar Communications currently has 1.4 million subscribers)

General Motors' telematics subsidiary OnStar launched a marketing campaign last week featuring the comic-strip superhero Batman to boost the image of the system's new calling and content features. OnStar President Chet Huber also announced the results of a five-year company study that showed little correlation between automobile accidents and making hands-free wireless calls using the OnStar system.
Huber says that out of the 8.1 million calls placed from an embedded OnStar phone to one of the company's call centers, only two coincided with accidents severe enough to deploy an airbag.
