* The future looks bright for telematics, according to recent studies by Jupiter Media Metrix and Driscoll-Wolfe. The Jupiter study found that despite the added cost of equipment, 44 percent of consumers would pay for basic telematics services focused on safety and security and nearly 50 percent would purchase a premium service package.

The Driscoll-Wolfe study found strong interest in location-based roadside assistance, stolen vehicle tracking and navigation assistance services.
