MDM gets high marks.(By the Numbers)(mobile device management)(Brief Article)

Wireless Week, May, 2005

Mobile device management (MDM) will prove indispensable in 2005 as operators realize nearly $250 million in customer care savings related to diagnosing and resolving issues related to incorrect network settings on the handset, reports Strategy Analytics. As devices become more complex and costly to replace, carriers and vendors are taking a closer look at updating firmware on the terminal.

Strategy Analytics notes that the MDM market has grown rapidly, with end-to-end offerings from suppliers such as Openwave Systems and Innopath, platform products from Smarttrust, SIM-centric offerings from Gemplus and specialist device clients from firms such as Bitfone and Redbend. In all, they will have created an MDM revenue stream exceeding $200 million in 2007.
