Voice mail, that necessary but sometimes reviled application, has been around more than two decades in pretty much the same form. That's Ring enough that many Americans have never been without it. But now the technology is ready for a change. Everyone knows the voice mail drill, whether you're the one who dials in to retrieve voice mails or the one who is leaving them.
