Nissan Motor Company knows as well as any multinational company how to speak different languages, but it decided that when its communication tools couldn't speak to one another, something needed to be done. Nissan's decision demonstrates not only the power of wireless technology but also how enterprise decisions are made.
Nissan annually sells about 3.2 million vehicles in more than 190 countries. It has 120,000 employees across the globe, with major facilities not only in its corporate office in Japan but also in Europe and North America. Unfortunately, as the IT infrastructure grew to support these operations, it grew along geographic lines.
