By Brad Smith Several companies plan to use different technologies to bring TV shows to mobile phones. Debates over the technology of broadcasting TV to mobile devices is "so last year," says Michael Schueppert, president of Modeo. The technology that Schueppert's company is using has been tested for months and now he's ready to start delivering.
Modeo is the new name for Crown Castle Mobile Media, which plans to offer commercial TV broadcasts to mobile phones later this year. How much "later" depends on handset manufacturers such as Motorola and Nokia because Schueppert says his network will be ready when the handsets start shipping.
